Reading Persepolis was one of the biggest lightbulb moments for me, and this was exactly what I got out of it. People aren’t their governments, and it ain’t that hard to relate to other people when you’re willing to open yourself up to it, even when their lives seem very different from your own. Every kid should read those books.
